Kaktus Reading Series

Featuring Heidi Seaborn and Gayle Lauradunn, followed by open mic. Via Zoom.

Admission is free. Donations accepted for the poets at the event.

We’re planning last Tuesday Kaktus Zoom readings through July. August we’re taking a break. September will hopefully be back in person at the Kaktus Brewery stage in Bernalillo, NM. We’ll try to figure out some way of either a live or recorded broadcast of the featured poets to keep sharing.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. You will be asked if you want to read at the open mic, answer YES or NO when registering. Open mic is by lottery, we draw names after the featured poets and read until 9 pm Mountain time. One poem limit, please.

Heidi Seaborn, based in Seattle, WA, is the author of [PANK] 2020 Poetry Award winner An Insomniac’s Slumber Party with Marilyn Monroe (2021), Give a Girl Chaos (C&R Press, 2019) and the 2020 Comstock Review Prize Chapbook, Bite Marks, as well as chapbooks, Finding My Way Home (Finishing Line Press, 2018) and Once a Diva (dancing girl press, 2021). Since Heidi started writing in 2016, she’s won or been shortlisted for over two dozen awards. Her work has recently appeared in American Poetry Journal, Beloit Poetry Journal, Copper Nickel, The Cortland Review, The Greensboro Review, The Missouri Review, The Slowdown with Tracy K. Smith, Tinderbox Poetry Journal and elsewhere. She is Executive Editor of The Adroit Journal, on the board of Tupelo Press and holds an MFA in Poetry from NYU. www.heidiseabornpoet.com

Many of Gayle Lauradunn’s poems have received awards and her Reaching for Air was a Finalist for Best First Book of Poetry. Her book-length persona poem “All the Wild and Holy: A Life of Eunice Williams 1696-1785” received an Honorable Mention from Bauhan Publishing. She was co-organizer of the First National Women’s Multicultural Poetry Festival, a week-long event at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Gayle lives in Albuquerque, NM.
